From May 6th to August 14th, Josianne Cloutier and Andrée Goulet-Jobin will cycle from one ocean to the other, exploring the roads of Canada on their favorite mean of transportation. In addition to enjoying themselves, they will achieve this voyage in support of two causes they hold dear: children’s health and the environment.
Their 8000-km and 100-days journey will thus be used to raise funds for the project Un pied devant l’autre! (One foot before the other!). Promoted by two non-profit organizations of the Quebec City region, Accès transports viables and Promo-Vélo (both sites are in French only), this project aims to encourage physically active and safe modes of transportation around elementary schools. Like Montreal’s On the move to school! and Vancouver’s Way to go! programs, we are confident that One foot before the other! can make the difference and benefit the children, our community and the environment.
As for us, we’ll cycle whatever we can to make it come true!
As we are eager to share our passion for cycling, we invite you to follow us all through this exciting trip by visiting the blog section of this site, Pas à pas (Step by step), excerpts of which also appear on our home page. Although it will mostly be written in French, we will gladly put in practise our ever-improving Canadian English for you - and if all else should fail, there will still be the pictures!
In support of this cause, you are invited to sponsor our kilometers. For 1 or 2 CAN$ each, you can help us pedal in the sun, up the mountains, against strong headwinds or under the rain!
